| Divemaster is the first step into the professional level. Working closely with an Instructor you'll expand your dive knowledge and learn to work with students. A significant amount of time is spent assisting with training activities to help develop your leadership skills so you may supervise dive activities and assume responsibility of divers in your care. |
A Divemaster can:
Assist an Instructor with student training
Conduct snorkeling and skin diver programs
Conduct Scuba refresher/review programs
Generally supervise both training and non-training related
activities by planning, organizing, and directing dives.
Independently guide Open Water Diver Course students on
the tour portion of training dives 2 through 5 |
| What is involved? |
| There are three (3) phases to the Divemaster course:
Watermanship and Skills Assessment
Knowledge Development
Practical Application/Internship
In addition Divemaster candidates must:
Complete and turn in an underwater map.
Complete and turn in an Emergency Assistance Plan. |
PREREQUISITES:
Open Water Certification or Equivalent
Advanced Open Water Certification or Equivalent
Rescue Diver or Equivalent
Minimum 18 years of age
In good physical condition with an approved medical exam
Minimum of 20 logged dives to start the course
60 logged dives for completion of the course
Emergency First Responder or Equivalent |
